As I mentioned in my first blog post, In order to be successful at Sudoku placement puzzle game, you need patience and careful thought. This game is similar to Rubik's Cube, but it can be much harder to beat and is thus ideal for people who are looking for bigger challenges than that of Rubik's Cube.

You can find Sudoku in newspapers, magazines, textbooks and of course even on the internet. This puzzle game consists of a series of grids, usually one (1) big 9 x 9 grid that holds nine (9) 3 x 3 small grids. The main object of Sudoku is to put the numbers from 1 to 9 into each of the grid units, but you do not have to add the numbers or look for the sum of the rows and columns. Even though this is a game with numbers, there are no addition included.

Basically, there are three (3) rules that every Sudoku player has to follow. These rules are:

1. Each of the numbers from 1 to 9 should come out only once in each column.

2. Each number from 1 to 9 must appear once in each row.

3. Each should appear once in each small 3 x 3 grid

You should follow these rules significantly so that each 3 x 3 grid has the numbers from 1 to 9 showing only once in the series.

You can find Sudoku puzzle game in different levels of complexity. There are differences in the total numbers provided in the first level in the 9 x 9 matrix. The common belief is that if there are more numbers given at the first level, then the games is much easier to solve, but this is not true because assignment of each number ha san intense effect in making the puzzle difficult to solve.

Now, how to play the puzzle game?

You can start playing the game as soon as your mind figures out how to follow the three (3) rules above. The steps below will also help you when playing the Sudoku.

  • There is no need to guess everything but rather play it sensibly. Just think carefully about it and begin the puzzle by searching for the clues. Most of the people begin by looking for the numbers that often appear in the first puzzle. For example, there are many 2's in the first puzzle. Now look in the 3 x 3 box and figure out if the number 2 is also there. Are there also other places with the number 2? Simply start looking for the number 2 in the rows and columns. Just remember that the number 2 must appear only once in each of the 3 x 3 box, rows or columns. If you have number 2 in the columns 1 and 3, then you should not have number 2 in any of those 2 columns.

  • When done looking at all the 3 x 3 boxes, be ensured to fill in the numbers 1 to 9 in the rows and columns, which hold most of the numbers. If there are only two numbers that are not in the row or column, you can still do the elimination method, which will tell you where to place the last two missing numbers. Just check the rows and the columns so you will be able to locate the missing numbers. If you have eliminated one of the possibilities on each row or column, there is a chance to fill the line you are playing.

  • The two steps above are good for solving simple and easy Sudoku. On the other hand, when solving difficult Sudoku puzzles, you need to know how to look for the possibilities of the puzzle. The possibilities basically need someone who will solve and win the puzzle with all the given different choices in every square. There may be times when there is no way to remove a possibility, so you will have to choose any numbers. When this happens, remember where you have chosen a number and think if your first choice was wrong.

Sudoku is wits game. At times, you will have a feeling that you are playing a non-stop game. But, following and practicing the steps described in this blog post will help you know the techniques that will eventualy lead you to the solution.
